Rome is known for historic sites, nightlife, museums, classes, and shopping. On the 1st (Wed), contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, then take in the views from Ponte di Rialto, then snap pictures at Ponte dei Sospiri, and finally get to know the fascinating history of Piazza San Marco. Here are some ideas for day two: appreciate the history behind Punta della Dogana, admire the striking features of Basilica di San Marco, then admire the landmark architecture of Doge's Palace, and finally make a trip to Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

You can take a train from Florence to Venice in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In December, Venice is slightly colder than Florence - with highs of 49°F and lows of 34°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Thu) to allow time to take a train to Milan.

On the 3rd (Fri), admire the striking features of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Duomo di Milano, then catch a live performance at La Casa Maledetta, and finally admire the masterpieces at Pinacoteca Ambrosiana. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 4th (Sat): explore the different monuments and memorials at Monumental Cemetery and then explore the historical opulence of Castello Sforzesco.
