A holiday in Port Douglas balances an activity-filled getaway with plenty of opportunities to relax, thanks to its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef and bustling beach life.
Family-friendly places like Scuba & Snorkeling and Four Mile Beach will thrill your kids. Step out of Port Douglas to go to Wangetti and see Rex Lookout, which is approximately 30 minutes away. The Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef

A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
Kids will enjoy Scuba & Snorkeling and Trinity Beach. When in Cairns, make a side trip to see Palm Cove Beach in Palm Cove, approximately Palm Cove away. Spend the 26th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's still lots to do: hike along Esplanade Boardwalk, take in nature's colorful creations at Botanical Gardens, let the kids burn off some steam at Muddy's Playground, and walk around Anzac Park.
