Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Asakusa Shrine and Yanaka. Get some historical perspective at Mitsumine Shrine (Chichibu) and Hie Jinjya. Change things up with these side-trips from Tokyo: Oya History Museum (in Utsunomiya) and Pola Museum of Art (in Hakone-machi). Traveling from Manila in November, things will get colder in Tokyo: highs are around 19°C and lows about 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Sat) to allow time to travel to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Start off your visit on the 24th (Sun): explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle, steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and then steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. Here are some ideas for day two: take in the spiritual surroundings of Shimogamo Jinja, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Hieizan Enryaku-ji Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kennin-ji Temple, then wander the streets of Gion, and finally stop by Ippodo Tea Kyoto.

Getting from Tokyo to Kyoto by train takes about 3 hours. Other options: fly; or drive. In November, daily temperatures in Kyoto can reach 19°C, while at night they dip to 10°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Mon) early enough to catch the train to Osaka.

Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
Shop till you drop at Dotonbori and Kimono Photo Studio Wasabi Osaka. Get a sense of the local culture at Toshodai-ji Temple and Hase-dera Temple. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Osaka: Nara (Nigatsu-do Temple & Nara Park), Tanzan Shrine (in Sakurai) and Kongobu-ji Temple (in Koya-cho). There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, appreciate the extensive heritage of Hozenji Yokocho, get a taste of the local shopping with Hankyu Umeda Honten, and have some family-friendly fun at Sunset Owl Cafe.

Osaka is very close to Kyoto. Expect a daytime high around 20°C in November, and nighttime lows around 10°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 28th (Thu) so you can travel to Tokyo.
