Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Piazza San Marco and Basilica di San Marco will appeal to history buffs. Get some cultural insight at Doge's Palace and St Mark's Campanile. Venture out of the city with trips to Fondazione Bisazza (in Montecchio Maggiore) and Padua (Scrovegni Chapel & Basilica di Sant’Antonio). There's much more to do: explore the activities along Canal Grande, take in the views from Ponte di Rialto, and admire the masterpieces at Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
