In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Pieve di San Giorgio and Abbazia di Santa Giustina. Popular historic sites such as Abbazia di San Colombano and Duomo di Voghera are in your itinerary. Venture out of the city with trips to Castello Della Pietra (in Vobbia), Tempio della Fraternita (in Varzi) and Pieve Romanica di San Giovanni in Contignaco (in Salsomaggiore Terme). Start off your visit on the 29th (Sun): don't miss a visit to Santuario di Santa Maria dell'Impruneta, then soothe aching muscles at Villa Vrindavana, then get engrossed in the history at Casa Museo Machiavelli, and finally appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Buondelmonti.
