Start off your visit on the 5th (Mon): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica di San Pietro, admire the masterpieces at Vatican Museums, and then steep yourself in history at Colosseum. On the 6th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: explore the ancient world of Palatine Hill, wander the streets of Trastevere, then get to know the fascinating history of Piazza Navona, and finally make a trip to Pantheon.

You can take a train from Florence to Rome in 1.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or fly. In March, plan for daily highs up to 63°F, and evening lows to 45°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Wed) so you can travel to Cannes.

On the 7th (Wed), identify plant and animal life at La Recreation Champetre and then contemplate the long history of Villa & Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild. Traveling from Cannes in March, expect Paris to be slightly colder, temps between 54°F and 38°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Mon) early enough to take a train to Amsterdam.
