The oldest European settlement on South Australia's mainland, Glenelg is named after a former Secretary of State for War and the Colonies, Lord Glenelg.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Glenelg Beach. On the 22nd (Wed), take an in-depth tour of Glenelg Visitor Information Centre, kick back and relax at Glenelg Beach, and then take a leisurely stroll along Glenelg Pier. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: get in on the family fun at The Beachouse, then hike along River Torrens Linear Park Trail, and then kick back and relax at Henley Beach.

Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
On the 24th (Fri), identify plant and animal life at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, then get curious at Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, and finally take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. Keep things going the next day: tour the pleasant surroundings at Kingston Beach, then shop like a local with Salamanca Market, then ponder the design of The Tasman Fountain, and finally explore the world behind art at Museum of Old and New Art (Mona).

You can fly from Glenelg to Hobart in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of train, ferry, and bus. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Glenelg in January, with highs in Hobart at 26°C and lows at 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 25th (Sat) early enough to travel to Melbourne.
