Adelaide, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 16- hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Australian Central Standard Time to Japan Standard Time is minus 0.5 hours. Expect a bit warmer evenings in Tokyo when traveling from Adelaide in October, with lows around 18°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) so you can catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Visit Kinkaku-ji and Shimogamo Jinja for their historical value. Step off the beaten path and head to Sanzen-in Temple and Shoren-in Temple (Shoren-in Monzeki). There's still lots to do: step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, make a trip to Sannenzaka Ninenzaka, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Daikaku-ji, and contemplate the long history of Sento Imperial Palace (Sento Gosho).

You can take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and bus; or drive. October in Kyoto sees daily highs of 27°C and lows of 18°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Mon) to allow enough time to take a train to Osaka.

Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Nara Park and Omiwa Shrine. Toshodai-ji Temple and Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine will appeal to history buffs. Venture out of the city with trips to Sakurai (Tanzan Shrine & Hase-dera Temple), Nara (Isuien Garden, Yoshikien, &more) and Asuka-dera Temple (in Asuka-mura).
