Playa de las Americas

— 4 nights

Party Capital of Tenerife

Known around the world as a hotspot for beach life and vibrant night culture, Playa de las Américas remains one of the most-visited vacation resorts in the Canary Islands.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Playa La Arena and Playa de Abama. Venture out of the city with trips to Masca Walk (in Masca), Los Gigantes (in Santiago del Teide) and Playa de la Tejita (in El Medano). And it doesn't end there: stroll through Playa El Medano, appreciate the views at Masca Valley, surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, and enjoy the sand and surf at Playa de las Vistas.

For where to stay, photos, maps, and tourist information, use the Playa de las Americas online tour itinerary planner.

San Cristobal de La Laguna to Playa de las Americas is an approximately 1-hour car ride. You can also take a bus. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from San Cristobal de La Laguna in March: high temperatures in Playa de las Americas hover around 26°C and lows are around 18°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Fri) so you can drive to Puerto de la Cruz.

Puerto de la Cruz

— 6 nights

City of Eternal Spring

As one of Tenerife’s oldest port cities, Puerto de la Cruz embodies a hip, island personality, while still retaining its historic fishing village charm.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Botanical Gardens (Jardin Botanico) and Playa de las Teresitas. Explore Puerto de la Cruz's surroundings by going to MoringaPark Tenerife (in Guimar), Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Candelaria (in Candelaria) and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Plaza Del Principe, Tenerife Auditorium (Auditorio de Tenerife), &more). Next up on the itinerary: tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa El Bollullo, admire the verdant scenery at Orotava Valley, enjoy the sand and surf at Piscinas Naturales El Caleton, and take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Las Montanas de Anaga.

Tenerife is the largest and most populous of the seven Canary Islands. With its abundance of sun-warmed beaches, deep gorges, dramatic cliffs, dense forests, and lush valleys filled with thriving banana plantations, the island offers an impressive variety of things to do: snorkeling, windsurfing, sailing, hiking, and cycling. You can even spelunk in the island’s volcanic caves and tunnels, among the largest in the world. Tenerife is also known for its nightlife, attracting thousands of weekend revelers from nearby European countries. The island is highly urbanized, though there are still pockets where visitors can enjoy the distinctive local culture and sightseeing at a slower pace.
