Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.

Kick off your visit on the 8th (Fri): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington. Your day by day itinerary now includes Horse Play Tasmania, All4Adventure and Bicheno's Glass Bottom Boat. Bring the kids along to Wineglass Bay Lookout and Wineglass Bay. Richmond is a town in Tasmania about 25 km north-east of Hobart, in the Coal River region, between the Midland Highway and Tasman Highway. Kick off your visit on the 16th (Sat): identify plant and animal life at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, then get to know the resident critters at Zoodoo Zoo, and then experience rural life at Freshfield Grove. On the next day, admire the landmark architecture of Oak Lodge, then see the interesting displays at Old Hobart Town Model Village, then admire the striking features of Richmond Gaol, and finally snap pictures at Richmond Bridge.
