Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Visit Port Arthur Historic Site and Cascades Female Factory Historic Site for their historical value. Do some cultural sightseeing at Museum of Old and New Art and Bruny Island Quarantine Station. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hobart: Opossum Bay Beach (in Opossum Bay) and South Cape Bay (in Southwest National Park). There's much more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, stroll through Nutgrove Beach, take in the awesome beauty at Mount Wellington, and go for a walk through Battery Point Sculpture Trail.

To find maps, ratings, other places to visit, and tourist information, you can read our Hobart travel route planner.

Manchester, UK to Hobart is an approximately 30-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 10 hours traveling from Manchester to Hobart. When traveling from Manchester in March, plan for much warmer days and somewhat warmer nights in Hobart: temperatures range from 25°C by day to 13°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Tue) so you can drive to Coles Bay.
