Known its good weather, Taichung boasts an interesting set of cultural attractions, including many temples showing the development of religious architectural styles in the area and forming focal points for most tours of Taichung.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Taichung: Ren'ai Township (Hehuanshan National Forest Recreation Area & Cingjing Veterans Farm), Chung Tai World Museum (in Puli) and Yuchi (Sun Moon Lake & Wenwumiaohoushan Park). Taipei to Taichung is an approximately 1.5-hour train ride. You can also drive; or take a bus. In March in Taichung, expect temperatures between 25°C during the day and 16°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Chiayi.

Chiayi

The provincial city in the county of the same name, Chiayi sits as the gateway to the national scenic mountain area of Alishan.
Kick off your visit on the 31st (Tue): deepen your understanding at Alishan Forestry Village & Hinoki Village, don't miss a visit to The Hinoki Village, then get to know the fascinating history of Chiayi Loco Shed Park, and finally make a trip to Chiayi Garage Park. Keep things going the next day: explore the world behind art at Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, admire the landmark architecture of High-Heel Wedding Church, then stroll around Chiayi Park, and finally make a trip to Bei Men Yi.

Drive from Taichung to Chiayi in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. While traveling from Taichung, expect slightly colder days and about the same nights in Chiayi, ranging from highs of 19°C to lows of 18°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Thu) so you can catch the train to Taipei.

Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Venture out of the city with trips to YehLiu Geopark (in Wanli), Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) (in Ruifang) and Keelung River (in Bali). You can take a train from Chiayi to Taipei in 2 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. In April, daytime highs in Taipei are 30°C, while nighttime lows are 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Mon) to allow time to travel back home.
