Naples is the capital of the Italian region Campania and the third-largest municipality in Italy after Rome and Milan. Bring the kids along to Pompeii Archaeological Park and Museo Cappella Sansevero. Venture out of the city with trips to Salerno (Stazione Marittima di Salerno, Pinacoteca Provinciale Salerno, &more) and Pompeii (Lupanar & Villa dei Misteri). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli, explore the galleries of Galleria Borbonica, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Arciconfraternita della Santissima Annunziata e del Santissimo Rosario, and make a trip to Miglio Sacro.

Best known for its celebrated terraced gardens, Ravello is a hidden gem of Italy's Amalfi Coast.
Bring the kids along to Villa Cimbrone Gardens and Fornillo. Change things up with these side-trips from Ravello: Spiaggia Lannio (in Cetara), Positano (Bagni d'Arienzo Beach Club, Positano & LINOMANIA) and Praiano (I Suoni degli Dei - Pelagos & Grotte di Suppraiano). There's still lots to do: admire the landmark architecture of Villa Rufolo, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Collegiate Santa Maria Maddalena, take in the spiritual surroundings of Basilica of Saint Trofimena, and enjoy the sand and surf at Spiaggia di castiglione.

Getting from Naples to Ravello by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of subway and taxi; or take a bus. Expect somewhat warmer evenings in Ravello when traveling from Naples in May, with lows around 21°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Wed) so you can go by car to Matera.
