Gateway to the Highlands

Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
When in Inverness, make a side trip to see Landmark Forest Adventure Park in Carrbridge, approximately Carrbridge away. There's much more to do: learn insider's secrets on a distillery tour, examine the collection at The Highlanders' Museum (Queen's Own Highlanders Collection), delve into the mystery of Loch Ness, and contemplate the long history of Fort George.

Venice, Italy to Inverness is an approximately 9-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and train; or take a train. Durness is a village and civil parish in the north-west Highlands of Scotland. Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. On the 8th (Sat), add some adventure to your tour with Arisaig Sea Kayak Centre and then look for all kinds of wild species at Highland Titles Nature Reserve. Here are some ideas for day two: steep yourself in history at Glenfinnan Viaduct, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Nevis Range Mountain Resort, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Ben Nevis, and finally admire the sheer force of Steall Waterfall.
