Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Visiting Playa Santa Maria del Mar and Playa Penascal will get you outdoors. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Balneario Embajadores and Playa Kon-Tiki. There's lots more to do: wander the streets of Miraflores, examine the collection at ChocoMuseo, admire the striking features of Palacio de la Union, and get engrossed in the history at Museo Larco.

San Francisco, USA to Lima is an approximately 12-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. You'll lose 3 hours traveling from San Francisco to Lima due to the time zone difference. When traveling from San Francisco in February, plan for a bit warmer days in Lima, with highs around 82°F, while nights are much warmer with lows around 70°F.
