Newcastle upon Tyne

One of the hippest urban centers in the northeastern part of the country, Newcastle upon Tyne once had a reputation for being an industrial wasteland with little to offer casual tourists.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Newcastle upon Tyne: Windermere (Orrest Head, Michael Coates Clay Shooting, & more), York (York Castle Museum, York City Walls, & more) and Durham Cathedral (in Durham). There's much more to do: take in the history at EXIT Newcastle, get outside with Alpacaly Ever After, get lost in a book at The Literary & Philosophical Society, and contemplate the waterfront views at Derwentwater.

For more things to do, traveler tips, photos, and more tourist information, refer to the Newcastle upon Tyne journey builder site .

If you are flying in from South Korea, the closest major airports are Newcastle Airport, Durham Tees Valley Airport and Leeds Bradford Airport. Expect a daytime high around 9°C in December, and nighttime lows around 3°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
