Stresa is a town and comune of about 5,000 residents on the shores of Lake Maggiore in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, about 90km northwest of Milan. Go for a jaunt from Stresa to Verbania to see Lago Maggiore about 34 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: get a taste of the local shopping with Palazzo Borromeo, head off the coast to Isola Bella, pause for some serene contemplation at Chiesa di San Vittore, and steep yourself in history at Isola Madre.
