The port city of Otaru has long attracted domestic visitors, drawn in by the city's many historic buildings, and has started to garner international attention, too.
Yoichi Wine Brewery has been added to your itinerary. Kick off your visit on the 6th (Thu): sample the fine beverages at Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery, hunt for treasures at Kakizaki Shoten, then learn about winemaking at Yoichi Wine Brewery, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Mount Kenashi View Point. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 7th (Fri): take in the waterfront at Otaru Port Marina, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Otaru Canal, and then look for gifts at Otaru Music Box Museum Main Building.

Getting from Chitose to Otaru by car takes about an hour. Other options: drive; or take a train; or take a bus. Expect a bit warmer evenings in Otaru when traveling from Chitose in June, with lows around 19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 8th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Furano.

Furano

Situated in the center of the island, Furano has become known for its idyllic rural landscape, and the drastic changes it experiences as seasons shift.

On the 9th (Sun), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Kushiro-cho.

CIty of Ramen

A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Kokuei Takino Suzuran Hillside National Park and Fukuzumi Pioneering Memorial Museum. There's still lots to do: stroll around Odori Park, get to know the fascinating history of Hokkaido University Former Sapporo Agricultural School and Library, pause for some photo ops at Statue of Pioneer Mother, and wander the streets of Susukino.

You can drive from Kushiro-cho to Sapporo in 4.5 hours. Another option is to drive. Traveling from Kushiro-cho in June, plan for a bit warmer nights in Sapporo, with lows around 19°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 15th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive back home.
