Santiago Atitlán is a municipality in the Sololá department of Guatemala. Start off your visit on the 27th (Fri): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Colonial Church. San Agustín Lanquín, often referred to simply as Lanquín, is a municipality in the Guatemalan department of Alta Verapaz. Start off your visit on the 30th (Mon): explore the fascinating underground world of Grutas Las Marias, then admire the sheer force of Monumento Natural Semuc Champey, then Head underground at Parque Nacional Grutas de Lanquin, and finally Head underground at Lanquin Caves.

Traveling by car from Santiago Atitlan to Lanquin takes 6 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus; or take a bus. Traveling from Santiago Atitlan in December, things will get somewhat warmer in Lanquin: highs are around 36°C and lows about 24°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Mon) so you can catch the shuttle to Flores.

An island town, capital of the landlocked region of Peten, attractive Flores features pleasant architecture that complements the shimmering appearance of the surrounding lake.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Parque arqueologico uaxactun and Ixpanpajul Nature Park. Step out of Flores to go to Tikal National Park and see Tikal, which is approximately 1h 15 min away. The adventure continues: don't miss a visit to Jorge's Rope Swing, get outside with Actún Can, Head underground at Actún Can, and delve into the distant past at Sitio Arqueologico Tayazal.
