An island town, capital of the landlocked region of Peten, attractive Flores features pleasant architecture that complements the shimmering appearance of the surrounding lake.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Cultural Triangle Yaxha-Nakum-Naranjo National Park and Parque arqueologico uaxactun. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Ixpanpajul Nature Park and Catedral de Flores. Step out of Flores to go to Tikal National Park and see Tikal, which is approximately 1h 15 min away.

The former capital of Guatemala and a World Heritage Site, Antigua retains its colonial charm and remains one of the most visited destinations in the country.
Visit Convento Santa Clara and Arco de Santa Catalina for their historical value. Get a sense of the local culture at Spas & Wellness and Cerro de la Cruz. Take a break from Antigua with a short trip to La Aurora Zoo in Guatemala City, about 56 minutes away. There's still lots to do: get impressive views of Volcán Pacaya, see the interesting displays at ChocoMuseo, stop by La Casa del Algodon, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Iglesia de La Merced.
