Start off your visit on the 2nd (Thu): admire the landmark architecture of Campanile di Giotto, don't miss a visit to Piazza della Signoria, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza del Duomo, then pause for some serene contemplation at Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, and finally explore the world behind art at Gallerie Degli Uffizi. Traveling from Barcelona in January, expect Florence to be a bit cooler, temps between 13°C and 3°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Fri) early enough to catch the train to Rome.

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
