Tamarindo

Surfing remains the main reason to take a trip to Tamarindo, as the beachside town is mostly known for its excellent waves.
On the 2nd (Thu), let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour and then find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area. On the 3rd (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: identify plant and animal life at Monkey Park, see what you can catch with a fishing tour, and then indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas.

The rainforest meets the sea at Manuel Antonio National Park, a small but scenic natural preserve on the west coast of Costa Rica.
Visit Playa Manuel Antonio and Uvita Beach for some beach relaxation. Take a break from the city and head to Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary and Canyoning & Rappelling Tours. Get out of town with these interesting Manuel Antonio side-trips: Rainmaker Park (in Parrita), Uvita Waterfall (in Uvita) and Parasailing & Paragliding (in Dominical). There's still lots to do: walk around Parque Nahomi.
