Santiago tourism thrives largely thanks to the city's big selection of cultural and entertainment options, including museums, theaters, restaurants, bars, and giant malls.
Get a sense of the local culture at La Chascona and Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos. Step out of Santiago with an excursion to Concha y Toro in Pirque--about 48 minutes away. There's much more to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at San Cristóbal Hill, steep yourself in history at Centro Cultural Palacio de la Moneda y Plaza de la Ciudadania, admire the striking features of Metropolitan Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana), and take a stroll through Barrio Lastarria.
