Kids will enjoy La Citadelle de Besancon and Lac de Chalain. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Besancon: Cascades du Hérisson (in Menetrux-en-Joux), Belvedere des Quatre Lacs (in La Chaux-du-Dombief) and La Grande Saline - Musée du Sel (in Salins-les-Bains). There's much more to do: Head underground at Grottes des Moidons, examine the collection at Dino-Zoo, snap pictures at Pont des Capucins, and take a leisurely stroll along Quai Vauban.

The Wine Capital of the Burgundy region in the Côte-d'Or department, Beaune is a walled city with features remaining from the pre-Roman and Roman eras in eastern France.
Kids will enjoy Hôtel-Dieu Museum Musée de l'Hôtel-Dieu and Owl's Trail. Venture out of the city with trips to Dijon (Place de la Liberation, Musee des Beaux-Arts de Dijon, &more), Touroparc Zoo (in Romaneche-Thorins) and La Roche de Solutre (in Solutre-Pouilly). There's still lots to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Monastere Royal de Brou and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Abbey of Cluny.
