Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Start off your visit on the 27th (Sun): stop by The Sasquatch Outpost, take in the awesome beauty at Mount Evans, then cruise along Mount Evans Scenic Byway, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Crown Hill Park. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 28th (Mon): get to know the resident critters at Denver Zoo, explore the galleries of Denver Botanic Gardens, then pause for some serene contemplation at Trinity United Methodist Church, and finally wander the streets of 16th Street Mall.

Newark to Denver is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Mountain Standard Time (MST), which is usually a -2 hour difference. Plan for a bit cooler nights when traveling from Newark in September since evenings lows in Denver dip to 52°F. Start off your visit on the 29th (Tue): take in the dramatic natural features at Flatirons, stroll around Colorado Chautauqua: Park, then take in breathtaking views at Eldorado Canyon, and finally sample the tasty concoctions at Avery Brewing Company.
