The commercial capital of the country, Colombo has added modern touches to its colonial-era core, creating an exciting and eclectic coastal city.
Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple has been added to your itinerary. Start off your visit on the 16th (Fri): take an in-depth tour of Colombo National Museum, make a trip to Independence Square, pause for some photo ops at Independence Memorial Hall, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple, and finally walk around Galle Face Green.

Manama, Bahrain to Colombo is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You'll lose 2.5 hours traveling from Manama to Colombo due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Manama in February, things will get somewhat warmer in Colombo: highs are around 37°C and lows about 27°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sat) so you can travel to Kandy.

Kandy

Nestled between mountains in inland Sri Lanka, Kandy proudly bears its World Heritage Site designation while remaining culturally independent and colorfully picturesque.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Start off your visit on the 17th (Sat): don't miss a visit to Kandy view point, stroll the grounds of Kandy Garrison Cemetery, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, then stroll through Udawattekele Sanctuary, and finally explore the activities along Kandy Lake. Keep things going the next day: tour the pleasant surroundings at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and then tour the pleasant surroundings at Royal Botanical Gardens.

You can do a combination of taxi and train from Colombo to Kandy in an hour. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and flight; or take a train; or drive. On the 19th (Mon), you're off to Mirissa.

Visit Hikkaduwa Beach and Polhena Beach for some beach relaxation. Getting from Kandy to Mirissa by car takes about 4 hours. Other options: fly; or drive; or take a bus. In February, daily temperatures in Mirissa can reach 37°C, while at night they dip to 26°C. On the 24th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Colombo.
