Enshrouded in lush indigenous forest and surrounding a scenic lagoon of the same name, the Garden Route town of Knysna has plenty to offer.
We've included these beaches for you: Plettenberg Beach and Brenton on Sea. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Knysna: Birds of Eden (in The Crags) and Plettenberg Bay (Robberg Nature Reserve & Robberg 5 Beach). You can drive from George to Knysna in an hour. Another option is to take a bus. April in Knysna sees daily highs of 26°C and lows of 17°C at night. You'll have a few hours on the 1st (Sat) to wrap things up before traveling to Hermanus.

Renowned as a premier whale-watching destination, Hermanus grew from a quaint fishing village nestled on Walker Bay.
You'll get in some beach time at Voelklip Beach and Pringle Bay Beach. Change things up with a short trip to Stony Point Penguin Colony in Betty's Bay (about 50 minutes away). The adventure continues: enjoy the sand and surf at Onrus Beach, indulge your thirst for a good beer at Honingklip Brewery & Restaurant, learn about winemaking at Bouchard Finlayson Winery, and go for a walk through Hermanus Cliff Path.

Fly from Knysna to Hermanus in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. In May in Hermanus, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 12°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Mon) early enough to go by car to Stellenbosch.
