Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
On the 15th (Mon), explore the historical opulence of Fort George and then take in the history at Culloden Battlefield. Keep things going the next day: explore the historical opulence of Dunrobin Castle and Gardens, admire the natural beauty at Cawdor Castle, and then identify plant and animal life at Loch Garten Nature Reserve.

Durness is a village and civil parish in the north-west Highlands of Scotland. On the 18th (Thu), take in the exciting artwork at Balnakeil Craft Village, then kick back and relax at Balnakeil Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Durness Beach. Keep things going the next day: stroll through Oldshoremore Beach, then kick back and relax at Sandwood Bay Beach, and then take in the exciting artwork at Mudness Ceramics.

Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. On the 20th (Sat), see the interesting displays at West Highland Museum, then take in the awesome beauty at Nevis Range Mountain Resort, then contemplate the long history of Fort Augustus, and finally pause for some photo ops at Commando Monument. On the 21st (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: cruise along Morar Beach, contemplate the long history of Glenfinnan Viaduct, then examine the collection at Treasures of the Earth, then make a trip to Neptune's Staircase, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Ben Nevis.
