Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
Make the 18th (Fri) a memorable day with a climbing tour. Fajardo is a small city and municipality in Puerto Rico (U.S.) located in the east region of the island, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, north of Ceiba and east of Luquillo. Take a break from Fajardo with a short trip to El Yunque Rain Forest in El Yunque National Forest, about 50 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: kick back and relax at Playa Luquillo, get outside with Outdoor Activities, stroll through Angelito Trail, and head off the coast to Cayo Icacos.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
