Isla de Vieques

Isla Nena

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Caracas Beach and La Chiva. Take a break from the city and head to Sun Bay Beach and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Navio Beach, kick back and relax at Media Luna Beach, explore the ancient world of El Hombre de Puerto Ferro, and get great views at Puerto Ferro Lighthouse.
