10 days in Odessa, Uman & Mykolayiv Itinerary

Though most famous for the Potemkin Steps leading down the Black Sea coast, Odessa welcomes visitors with several other attractions, including beaches and an ornate opera house.

Kyiv (Kiev) to Odessa is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Kyiv (Kiev) in August, Odessa is a bit warmer at night with lows of 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Wed) early enough to drive to Uman.

Uman is a city located in the Cherkasy Oblast (province) in central Ukraine, to the east of Vinnytsia. Venture out of the city with trips to Buki Canyon (in Buki) and Reserve Tripoli Culture (in Lehedzino). You can drive from Odessa to Uman in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Cap off your sightseeing on the 22nd (Sat) early enough to go by car to Mykolayiv.

Mykolaiv, also known as Nikolaev or Nikolayev, is a city in southern Ukraine, the administrative center of the Mykolaiv Oblast. Start off your visit on the 23rd (Sun): see the interesting displays at The Museum of Shipbuilding and Fleet, get in on the family fun at Skazka Children Park City, then get to know the resident critters at Nikolaev Zoo, and finally take an in-depth tour of Mykolayiv Oblast Local History Museum.
