Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Head to Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and Avenida da Liberdadefor some retail therapy. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Praia da Nazare and Praia do Norte. Venture out of the city with trips to Nature & Wildlife Tours (in Sintra), Praia de Carcavelos (in Carcavelos) and Nazaret (in Nazare). There's lots more to do: visit Alfama, don't miss a visit to Belém Tower, browse the eclectic array of goods at Feira da Ladra, and get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Lisbon Oceanarium.
