Kitakyushu

An important gateway for trade and travel between Honshu and Kyushu, the city of Kitakyushu has an old industrial waterfront and provides access to a number of natural sites across the wider region.

Traveling by car from Kitakyushu to Beppu takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. In November in Beppu, expect temperatures between 20°C during the day and 13°C at night. You'll have a few hours on the 29th (Fri) to wrap things up before traveling to Kumamoto.

Centered around its castle, Kumamoto stands as a historic city with plenty of modern-day appeal to add to the mix.

Sasebo

With its U.S. Navy base, Sasebo has certainly developed pockets with an international feel: in downtown, often known as Sailor Town, you'll happen upon a number of eateries serving American-style hamburgers.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Arita Sera as well as Kouraku Kiln. Start off your visit on the 2nd (Mon): get in on the family fun at Huis Ten Bosch. The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Marinoa City Fukuoka, Canal City Hakata and Komyozen-ji Temple. Bring the kids along to Dazaifu Tenman-gu and Ohori Park. Step out of Fukuoka to go to Dazaifu and see Tenkai Inari Shrine, which is approximately 34 minutes away.
