The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Toji and Naniwa Meibutsu Ichibirian Dotombori. Head to Dotombori District and Nishiki Market Shopping Districtfor some retail therapy. The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, make a trip to Nijo Castle, and step into the grandiose world of Osaka Castle.

Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Sat): visit a coastal fixture at Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse, enjoy the sand and surf at Aragusuku Beach, then take a memorable tour with Tours, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Sunayama Beach. Taketomicho Iriomote-Jima stands as the second largest island in Okinawa.
Kick off your visit on the 7th (Mon): find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area and then scramble along the landscape with a canyoning and rapelling tour. Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Kick off your visit on the 9th (Wed): take a memorable tour with Tours, then head outdoors with Yonehara Beach, then take in panoramic vistas at Tamatorizaki Observatory, and finally get outside with Cape Hirakubozaki.
