The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Toji and Naniwa Meibutsu Ichibirian Dotombori. Head to Dotombori District and Nishiki Market Shopping Districtfor some retail therapy. The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, make a trip to Nijo Castle, and step into the grandiose world of Osaka Castle.
