The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Iwataya Honten as well as Canal City Hakata. Kick off your visit on the 4th (Thu): browse the range of quality goods at Iwataya Honten. Here are some ideas for day two: get engrossed in the history at Hakatamachiya Furusatokan, explore the world behind art at Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, then enjoy breathtaking views from Fukuoka Tower, then stroll around Ohori Park, and finally enjoy some music at Canal City Hakata.

Singapore, Singapore to Fukuoka is an approximately 9-hour flight. The time zone changes from Singapore Standard Time (SGT) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Singapore in November, things will get much colder in Fukuoka: highs are around 20°C and lows about 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 6th (Sat) to allow time for travel to Nagoya.

Traveling by flight from Fukuoka to Nagoya takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. While traveling from Fukuoka, expect slightly colder days and about the same nights in Nagoya, ranging from highs of 16°C to lows of 11°C. You'll have a few hours on the 8th (Mon) to wrap things up before traveling to Takayama.

Hidden high up in the Japanese Alps, Takayama remained largely cut off from the rest of Japan for centuries, allowing the local culture to grow in relative isolation.
Kick off your visit on the 9th (Tue): hunt for treasures at Hida-Takayama Miyagawa Morning Market, visit Sanmachi Suji, then admire the landmark architecture of Takayama Jinya, then learn more about the world around you at Hida Minzoka Mura Folk Village (Hida no Sato), and finally savor the flavors at Food & Drink.

Traveling by car from Nagoya to Takayama takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 17°C in November, and nighttime lows around 9°C. On the 10th (Wed), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Tokyo.

Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
On the 11th (Thu), get a sense of history and politics at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings, then admire the striking features of Tokyo Tower, and then take in nature's colorful creations at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 12th (Fri): don't miss a visit to Shibuya Crossing, admire the striking features of Tokyo Skytree, and then take a stroll through Akihabara.
