Golden City

A holy city, Amritsar stands as the spiritual and cultural capital of Sikhism, and the location of the religion's most revered and holiest shrine.
On the 3rd (Sat), indulge your taste buds at Food & Drink, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Harmandir Sahib, and then pause for some photo ops at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Statue. Here are some ideas for day two: take in nature's colorful creations at Jallianwala Bagh and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Mandir Mata Lal Devi.

Mumbai to Amritsar is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. Traveling from Mumbai in April, plan for a bit cooler nights in Amritsar, with lows around 19°C. You'll have a few hours on the 5th (Mon) to wrap things up before traveling to Dalhousie.

Dalhousie

Set over a number of hills, the quiet town of Dalhousie was established by the British in the 19th century as a summer resort town.
Family-friendly places like Chamera Lake and Dainkund Peak will thrill your kids. Explore Dalhousie's surroundings by going to Chamba (Bhalei Mata Temple, Chamera Dam, &more). There's lots more to do: identify plant and animal life at Panjpulla, stroll around Beeji's Park, take some stellar pictures from Upper Bakrota, and pause for some serene contemplation at St. John's Church.

Traveling by car from Amritsar to Dalhousie takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and bus; or do a combination of train and taxi. On the 8th (Thu), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Katra.

Katra

Located at the foothills of the Trikuta Mountains, Katra serves as a base for the great pilgrimage to the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Vaishno Devi and Bhairo Baba Temple. Step out of Katra to go to Jammu City and see Ranbireshwar Temple, which is approximately 1h 15 min away. There's more to do: make a trip to Baba Dhansar and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nau Devi Temple.

You can drive from Dalhousie to Katra in 5.5 hours. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 11th (Sun) to allow time for travel back home.
