The former capital of the Kingdom of Ladakh, Leh possesses a historic old town area marked by stupas, monasteries, and traditional mud-brick houses.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Hemis Monastery and Thiksey Monastery. Step out of the city life by going to River Rafting & Tubing and Khardung La. Get out of town with these interesting Leh side-trips: Likir Gompa (in Likir) and Alchi Monastery (in Alchi). There's more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Spituk Monastery and examine the collection at Hall of Fame.

Known as the "Pink City" because of the color of the stone used for many of its notable structures, Jaipur draws visitors with its chaotic street life and a slew of colorful bazaars selling everything from handmade pottery to tie-dye scarves.

Getting from Leh to Jaipur by flight takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of bus, taxi, and train.
