The largest city on Canada's eastern coastline, Halifax boast a rich maritime history and occupies a strategically important location with one of the world's greatest natural harbors.
Attractions like Halifax Public Gardens and Maritime Museum of the Atlantic make great kid-friendly stops. Explore Halifax's surroundings by going to Fundy Tidal Bore Adventures (in South Maitland), Peggy's Cove (William deGarthe Art Gallery & Peggy's Cove Lighthouse) and River Rafting & Tubing (in Shubenacadie). And it doesn't end there: brush up on your military savvy at Halifax Citadel National Historic Site of Canada, explore the galleries of Gallery 215, contemplate the long history of Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, and get engrossed in the history at Quaker House.

Nestled on a cozy harbor surrounded by green forests, the coastal town of Ingonish serves as the perfect coastal retreat for those after a quiet getaway.
Bring the kids along to Ingonish Beach and Black Brook Beach. Step out of Ingonish to go to Bay St. Lawrence and see Dolphin & Whale Watching, which is approximately 56 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the striking landscape of Cape Breton Highlands National Park, trek along White Point Hiking Trail, take a stroll through Meat Cove, and play a few rounds at Highlands Links Golf Course.
