Bouillante is a commune in the French overseas region and department of Guadeloupe, in the Lesser Antilles.HistoryBouillante was founded about 1635 with the arrival of some of Guadeloupe's first colonists. Venture out of the city with trips to Parc National (Cascade aux Ecrevisses & Carbet Falls (Les Chutes du Carbet)), Deshaies (Plage de Grande Anse & Jardin Botanique de Deshaies) and La Soufriere Volcano (in Saint-Claude). There's still lots to do: admire nature's wide array of creatures at Parc des Mamelles, le Zoo de Guadeloupe, admire the natural beauty at Le Jardin de la Rencontre, discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and kick back and relax at Plage de Malendure.

Although the surrounding area continues to depend on agriculture, Sainte-Anne thrives largely thanks to tourism, offering visitors modern infrastructure and plenty of chances to experience the authentic local lifestyle.
Get out of town with these interesting Sainte-Anne side-trips: Scuba & Snorkeling (in Sainte Rose) and Pointe des Chateaux (in Saint Francois). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Plage de Bois Jolan, stroll through St. Anne Beach, look for gifts at David Vanille et Epices - Mamie Christiane, and admire the masterpieces at Museum Of Fine Arts Of St-Francois.
