Pearl of the Danube
You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.Start off your visit on the 18th (Fri): pause for some photo ops at Shoes on the Danube. Keep things going the next day: steep yourself in history at Halaszbastya, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Matthias Church, then snap pictures at Szechenyi Chain Bridge, then ponder the world of politics at Hungarian Parliament Building, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika).

Florence, Italy to Budapest is an approximately 5.5-hour combination of train and flight. You can also fly; or drive. One of Poland's oldest cities, Krakow sits at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, its historical town center nestled on the left bank of the Vistula River.On the 21st (Mon), examine the collection at Muzeum Krakowa, oddzial Fabryka Emalia Oskara Schindlera and then take an in-depth tour of Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau.
