The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Get some cultural insight at National Air and Space Museum and National Gallery of Art. Get some historical perspective at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and National Mall. When in Washington DC, make a side trip to see Gettysburg National Military Park in Gettysburg, approximately 1h 45 min away. There's lots more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Tidal Basin, learn more about the world around you at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, deepen your understanding at Georgetown University, and steep yourself in history at Arlington National Cemetery.
