Arnhem

— 9 nights

Little Hague of the East

Arnhem is known mostly for its John Frost Bridge, which the British tried to secure during World War II. The operation was significant enough to be the subject of a movie, "A Bridge Too Far." Many who go to Arnhem do so for its historical museums, war monuments, museum of modern art, and the Burgers' zoo.
Visit World Heritage Kinderdijk and Huis Doorn for their historical value. Let the collections at Nederlands Openluchtmuseum and Arnhem War Museum capture your imagination. Change things up with these side-trips from Arnhem: Plaza Markt. (in Gouda), De Wonderlijke Klim (in Den Bosch) and Nationaal Monument Kamp Vught (in Vught). There's lots more to do: explore the world behind art at Museum MORE, stroll the grounds of Airborne Cemetery, appreciate the extensive heritage of Kasteeltuinen Arcen, and examine the collection at Museum Schokland.

To see ratings, where to stay, traveler tips, and other tourist information, go to the Arnhem trip itinerary site.

If you are flying in from Sweden, the closest major aiports are Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Eindhoven Airport and Maastricht Aachen Airport. In April in Arnhem, expect temperatures between 16°C during the day and 3°C at night.
