On a trip to Shimoda, a small town nestled on the tip of the Izu peninsula, you can take advantage of the scenic sandy beaches and soak in the laid-back atmosphere.
Start off your visit on the 6th (Sat): kick back and relax at Touji Beach, stroll around Ryugu Park, hit the slopes at Touji Sand Ski Area, make a trip to Nanz Village, then look for gifts at Ogiso Shoten Honten, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Mount Nesugatayama Observatory.

Tokyo to Shimoda is an approximately 2.5-hour car ride. You can also take a train. Expect somewhat warmer evenings in Shimoda when traveling from Tokyo in March, with lows around 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Sat) early enough to travel to Funabashi.
