  • Arrived after a1/2 hr drive from Groningen where our daughter is studying at Uni. A small team of welcoming volunteers run a living museum of an important rural rail station as of the 1850s. It is...  more »

  • Great museum about the history of the train in the North of the Netherlands certainly worth a visit. Knowledgeable staff can provide background information or answer questions. The miniature train set has the same train on the rails as the one passing by at the station. Don’t forget to grab a coffee or refreshment at the top floor café with beautiful views of the surroundings.
  • I also put some in the guestbook. I was visiting here last year (I walk behind my reviews) after I happened to encounter this on the internet on my quest to do nice things to do near our holiday address. I have persuaded my fiancé to go and we are really very happy because it was very nice. The museum is in the station building, it is not very big, but there is plenty to see and do. The different rooms are decorated as it was then, there are pictures, caps and other uniform goodies. We walked around, and we also liked that there were people from the museum who wanted to tell about the things we saw. Then we ate some cake and drank some at the café upstairs and also rumored with the one who worked there. He was very friendly and he also gave a mountain of information for even more nice museums and outings. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something and you love trams/trains. Also make sure to take pictures of the beautiful station building!
