Keukenhof, Lisse

Garden Park Must See
Visit Keukenhof, the world's second-largest flower garden. With more than 7 million flowers in bloom every year from March to May, this is also called the Garden of Europe. The park was founded in 1949 on 15th-century hunting grounds that were developed to display Dutch and European hybrids. Discover 32 hectares (79 acres) of colorful, blossom-filled parkland. Walk through Castle Keukenhof which was built in 1641, view the traditional English landscape garden, and stroll along the pathways of the exotic Japanese garden. Because the Netherlands is known for tulips, you may expect to see many of them here, however, the only nearby tulip fields lie beyond the garden's borders and are privately owned. Put Keukenhof on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Lisse journey builder site.

  • Visited this place during easter break 2019. Such a fabulous place, with the flowers and the windmill. We also did the boat trip which was good as we got to see the tulip farms themselves. A must...  more »

  • These gardens were really beautiful. We went in early April and it was very crowded but definitely worth the trip! The gardens are HUGE so it took us a while to see everything but there were so many flowers in bloom and it was such a nice place to walk around. The flower beds are in sections so you follow a path with the flowers on either side. The famous giant field of flowers that comes up most often when you look up photos was not in bloom by the smaller patches still looked gorgeous.
  • My favourite place to go in spring. Full stop. Flowers displays are beyond beautiful and all gardens are immaculate. Be ready for it to be crowded though, I'd recommend to go early spring when they open rather than later before they close and try avoid Easter time by all means, it gets extremely busy.
