The ABC Architectuurcentrum Haarlem is a center for Architecture in Haarlem, the Netherlands, dedicated to promoting interest and conserving the architectural heritage of Kennemerland.

The center was formed in 1989 and aims to inform all those involved in the building sector of current plans and events regarding large projects in the Haarlem area. The center has a core group of five part-time workers, and the rest of its activities (including the reception area) are manned by a small army of volunteers. It is located in the former polyclinic of the St. Elisabeth Gasthuis, Haarlem on the Groot Heiligland 47, across from the Frans Hals Museum, and shares its front door with the Historisch Museum Haarlem, which is located next door. The center is open from Tuesday-Saturday from 12:00 to 17:00 and on Sundays from 13:00 to 17:00. Admission is free. The rooms can be rented for gatherings and group activities are regularly organized there.

    It is wonderful to find out that a place like the ABC stands accessible in the centre of the quaint city of Haarlem. A visit would definitely not be a waste of time for those interested to find out more about the architecture around, and its history. I personally do not speak Dutch and found it refreshing that the staff spoke very good English and guided me. Printed translations are available for those who prefer to be left alone. Well though of plan to keep children quiet by having some Lego. Having to remind parents to keep their children from disturbing others is not only embarrassing but could be unpleasant too. There are several other activities lined up for those deeper into architecture.

    Not great for tourist. No info in English and no info about historic buildings of Haarlem. Staff were friendly and there is an area where you make buildings from Lego. Great if you are a Dutch speaker and into architecture.
