Stroll through the impressive ruins of Wat Maha That, at one time an important royal monastery and today a World Heritage Site. Erected around 1374 CE, the complex contained enshrined relics of Buddha and was strategically situated close to the Grand Palace. It served as the seat of the Supreme Patriarch of the City Dwelling sect for many years. Today, significant remnants of the imposing monastery still stand, including brick edifices and stone sculptures, all surrounded by verdant lawns. • Sukhothai Historical Park is currently divided into 4 parts: the most popular - central (practically within the city walls), north, west and combined, east-south. Only until the last one admission is free. You can move around the central part on foot, by bike, electric car (rental at the parking lot on the south side) or by bus. Visiting the central part will take about 2-3 hours depending on the chosen method. For the rest you need more than 6 hours (including transport). You will find the true spirit of history there. The remains of the ancient capital are impressive even now. Thais care a lot about it. Worth visiting and seeing everything. The biggest place of central part is Wat Mahathat. Here you will find the most impressive ruins and monuments. Here I add all photos from Wat Mahathat only
