Pay a visit to the wonderfully stoic inhabitants of Maesa Elephant Camp, one of the largest in northern Thailand. The majestic, entertaining creatures roam freely around the camp, and you are actively encouraged to pet and pose for a photo with them. Wander the grounds yourself and watch one of the many shows that happen on a daily basis. Go for a ride on one of the elephants, or take a full "mahout" (elephant keeper) course to learn more about caring for the creatures as well as their special place within Thai society and heritage. Plan your visit to Maesa Elephant Camp and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Mae Rim trip planner .

I've been visiting here with visiting friends and family for 20 years. This visit was the best. We did the 1/2 day Mahout option. It includes a costume change and a hands on guide the entire time. There were 3 babies. Exciting to touch and feed these amazing animals. Ploy, our designated elephant is the quintessential gentle giant. We bathed and brushed her in the stream. Really wonderful.
Do not visit this place! Elephants are tortured to learn those tricks. The elephants are beaten and tortured until they follow commands. The shows might look cute and entertaining but the process of taming those elephants is cruelty beyond belief! If you love them, Google some knowledge and go somewhere else. It is easy to have a cruelty-free experience somewhere else.
