Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, Lampang

#1 of 28 in Things to do in Lampang
Must see · Religious Site · Tourist Spot
Unlike many of Thailand's other highly revered temples, Wat Phra That Lampang Luang has been preserved in its original state. It was built in the 15th century on the site of a fortress that had guarded the road to the city. Admire the ornate architecture, murals, and reliefs carved in the wood. According to legend, Buddha once visited this temple and gifted a strand of hair, which is kept in the temple's main pagoda. The complex also includes three small museums boasting a collection of various relics. A couple of stalls on site sell refreshments and souvenirs.
