  • The House of Opium is good for what it is...an overview of the opium trade in the Golden Triangle and globally. It’s a clean and well laid out museum and worth a visit to take up about 2 hours. Good e...  more »
  • For small 50 THB admission you will learn a lot about the world of opium, with informative information boards in Thai and English. There is also much to see about the lives of the people in the mountain villages, their costumes and habits. Personally, I liked the collection of opium pipes and scales very much. The museum is not huge, but informative. I would plan for a visit about 30-60 minutes. As a ticket you get an elongated postcard, which you can decorate on the back with different stamps.

  • Was staying in the area so spent an enjoyable hour checking this place out. While showing its age this is still an interesting and informative display. Seems to included in many of the tours offered in the area so can get crowded. I arrived soon after opening and had a bit of free reign before quickly filling once the tours started arriving. Worth a look if you have the time spare.
  • A small building but with lots of history and information about the opium plantation at the Golden Triangle. It also provides information of the different hill tribes including the tribe where the ladies don neck rings have 'Long Necks'. Imagine opium also had many different brands and is definitely not illegal in those days. Enjoy the short walk around the museum!
